A Great Carry All Bag.
Materials Utilized
1/ Fabric remnants.
2/ Thin wadding 33cm x 49cm. 2
pieces.
3/Plain cotton fabric, plain colour.
33cm x 49cm. 2 pieces.
4/Two long strips of fabric, 2 ½” x
21”
5/ Binding, make your own or use
commercial binding. Approx 26” long.
STEP 1. Cut your fabric into a assortment
of strips varying from ¾” wide to 2” wide. Approxmently 15 strips are required
per side. The strips of fabric need to extend , on a angle, from one side of
the wadding to the other. There is no reason why each of the strips can be made
up of a few different fabrics.
Step 2. Once each side has been
complete trim each piece to equal size. As per following images.
Step 3. With right sides together machine sew down both sides and along
the base.
Step 4. To form the base sew along the corner tips as per following illustration.
These corners can trimmed off to reduce the bulk at the corners.
Step 5. The plain fabric is for the lining inside the bag. Turn the bag to
the right side. Sew up the lining the same way the bag has been sewn, including
the base corners. With the lining, the wrong side facing to the outside, place
it into the bag and pin both the bag and lining together at the top edge. At
this stage you may wish to baste the two together along the top.
Step 6. Sew the two long strips of fabric together down the long side.
Turn to right side, iron, then pin each strip to one side of the bag. Space as
per the illustration in the top photo. Baste or pin in position.
Step 7. Making your own binding or using commercial binding. Sew the
binding around the top of the bag, hand or machine stitch down on the inside.
