Taking Rust Dying 1 Step Further

To add further to the use of rust dyed fabric l have in these photos used a piece of the rust dyed fabric as backing fabric for this small quilt. It blends very well with the bright bold colors used in the quilt top. You will also note that the backing fabric has been bought around to the front to form the bindings. A great fabric and time saving technique

Dying Fabric With A Twist

It can be so easy to dye fabric. As l was sorting thru some fabric scraps came across the piece that was dyed with rusty nails. The rusty nails were wrapped in the fabric and left sitting in a bucket of water for approxmently 4 weeks. Once unwrapped the fabric was washed in white vinegar( to prevent the dye running) and ironed.
Such a easy way to create more fabric and use up any old cotton sheets.

A Different Twist On Dresden Plate

Just another take on using the Dresden Plate template, a tree skirt. Made from mens ties. Just a touch time consuming as you need to pull the ties apart and iron prior to cutting out the piece.

Finished Body Of Work.

Its always a moment of exhileration when a body of work has been completed. Though it may not have taken the direction you had initally planned it has nevertherless evolved and developed its own personality and is ready to be put out there for public scrutiny.

Dresden Plate With A Twist

Over the last few months l have been creating Dresden Plate Square, here is a slant on the style, created by placing a smaller Dresden Plate inside a bigger one. Suddenly the piece becomes quiet 3D.

Work In Progress

Today l have been busy working on a Quiet Book for my Grandson Joel. Have already finished 3 pages with 5 more to go. A great way to introduce the little ones to the concept of buttons, zips and velcroe.
My mind is running riot with other designs and using felt a lot more in the pages. Felt l have found to be so easy to use, not having to worry about frayed edges and it is easy to cut and sew, by hand or machine.

Work In Progress for the pages of the Quiet Book.

Just finished a exciting little project completed 3 Buntings. Buntings are great to decorate an empty wall or add extra color to a babies or child's nursery. As being made of fabric they are easy to wash.
If you don't have the time to sew together bunting you can cut out the fabric shape with pinking shears and sew the bias binding along the top. A sew easy project.
